Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been filmed frolicking in the sun with none other than Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo, who uploaded a video on his official Facebook page which shows the pair enjoying a light-hearted game of head tennis in the swimming pool whilst on holiday.

The Red Devils marksman is accompanied by Old Trafford team-mate Daley Blind and fellow compatriot Stefan de Vrij; three friends whose relationship first developed in the Netherlands national team set-up.

Van Persie and his fellow Dutchman have been enjoying a short break in Miami where Juventus midfielder Pirlo has also been unwinding ahead of his proposed move to Major League Soccer franchise New York City FC.

The 36-year-old's stay in Serie 'A' finally appears to be over after landing another domestic title with Massimo Allegri's side, but falling at the final hurdle in the Champions League. He now looks set to link up with the likes of Frank Lampard and David Villa in North America.

Van Persie was clearly pleased about the chance meeting with "the coolest player around" and shared his satisfaction on social media after posting a photograph of the Dutch trio posing with Pirlo on Twitter.

Of course, there are still some question marks surrounding the 31-year-old marksman's long-term future at the Theatre of Dreams, but at least he'll report back to Louis van Gaal at the start of pre-season in positive spirits after this vacation.

Check out the clip of Van Persie, Blind, De Vrij and Pirlo playing head tennis in the video below, and have your say where you think the Manchester United striker will be playing his football next season in the comment box provided...
