Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal has agreed to join Arsenal despite interest from Manchester United.

This has been reported by the Daily Mail, citing Chilean newspaper La Stampa, who claim that the 28-year-old could be on the verge of completing a move to the Gunners ahead of the transfer window.

Vidal, of course, is recognised as one of the most established midfield stars in the game, having produced the goods week in, week out on the domestic and European scene for Juventus in recent years.

It appears, then, that the Chilean ace, who has been starring in his homeland in the Copa America, is set to complete a move to the Emirates, with the same report claiming that the north London outfit will spend as much as £21 million on his services.

It now remains to be seen as to whether the Arsenal hierarchy manage to get the transfer over the line, but it will no doubt prove quite the coup for the club, who will be determined to maintain a Premier League title challenge next season.

Great deal

If the reports coming out of Chile are true, then Arsenal fans will surely be overjoyed with the potential signing. At the end of the day, the Juventus man has the ability to become an established star in the middle of the park in north London, and would only excel alongside Alexis Sanchez, who he plays alongside on the international scene.

It certainly appears, with Petr Cech seemingly on his way to the club, that Asene Wenger and Co. are intent on adding experience to the side, and this seems the right thing to do if they are serious about overhauling Chelsea in the immediate future.
