Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs has tipped new signing Memphis Depay to be a huge success at Old Trafford, saying the £25 million signing from PSV Eindhoven can have the same kind of impact as David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The retired Welsh winger believes the Netherlands international possesses all the key ingredients to become a world-class star of the future, and thinks he'll be hugely popular with Red Devils supporters because of his track record of entertaining whenever on the football pitch.
In an exclusive interview with The Sunday Times, Louis van Gaal's No.2 spoke positively about the potential that the 21-year-old has off the back of an impressive 2014/15 campaign in his native Holland where he finished as the Eredivisie's top goalscorer.

Without wishing to heap too much pressure on this precocious young talent, Giggs has already highlighted Depay's proficiency from set-pieces and believes that will prove to be an important contribution for the Premier League giants moving forward.
“[Depay] is the type Old Trafford will warm to,” he said. “He’s an exciting player, but there’s also substance behind it.

"He was top scorer in the Dutch league and got plenty of assists as well. He’s a ‘United’ type. Our fans demand exciting players, players who can get them off their seats and score spectacular goals."
Giggs added: “One thing we probably have lacked since Cristiano — and Becks [David Beckham] before him — is free kicks. And it looks like Depay has a great track record from free kicks as well.
"Over a season, if you can score more from free kicks and corners it adds up and makes a real difference in winning games. So, no pressure … but hopefully he’ll score 10 free kicks every year.”
Of course, Van Gaal knows Depay well from his time in charge of the Dutch national team and included him in his 23-man squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil last summer.
The youngster will inevitably need a little bit of time to settle in a new country and culture, but don't be surprised to see the fleet-footed forward tearing it up in the Premier League in the not too distant future.
