Arsenal’s hopes of securing the signature of Jeffrey Schlupp have been dealt a blow following reports the Leicester City wing-back is set to sign a new four-year contract at the King Power Stadium. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had been credited with an interest in luring the highly-rated Ghana international to the Emirates Stadium, but after talks with the Midlands club’s director of football Jon Rudkin he’s opted to stay with the Foxes. News of Schlupp’s commitment will come as a huge boost for Nigel Pearson as he bids to strengthen the squad that successfully staved off the threat of relegation from the Premier League last term. For a long time it looked as though the 22-year-old would be on his way out after attracting admiring glances from a host of top-flight suitors - including Manchester United. However, like Arsenal, the Red Devils have been unable to convince Schlupp that his future would be better served away from Leicester.
