Javier Hernandez’s future might seem destined to be away from Real Madrid, but that hasn’t stopped a new video of him wearing a Los Blancos kit from prompting a fresh wave of speculation.
The clip in question, relayed by Spanish newspaper AS,(click the link to view the video) shows Chicharito donning Los Blancos’ new kit for the 2015/16 season, despite the fact that it was unveiled after he returned to United from his season-long loan at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Since his move back to Old Trafford the player appeared to clarify that his future wasn’t with Real, despite a highly impressive run-in to his only season there, stating that the Spanish giants had opted not to activate the clause that would see his switch made permanent.
Fans in Spain are now wondering though why he is in the latest video showing their new kit alongside the likes of Toni Kroos, Keylor Navas and Alvaro Arbeloa if that is the case, and AS’ suggestion hardly pours cold water on the fanned flames.
Is it proof?
Of course logically speaking it could be that the film was shot before a decision was made regarding Hernandez’s future in Madrid, though that then begs the question as to whether or not the choice was eventually one made after opposition to letting him go.
After all, Hernandez scored some important goals for Real last term and makes for a very good impact substitute, and at the very least he could be used as a cheap backup option to the trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.
No United stay
In any case it would be highly surprising if he has a future as a United player past this summer. He wasn’t deemed worthy for Louis van Gaal last year and the only thing that has changed since then is an increase in the club’s expectations of the Dutchman, meaning Hernandez will surely have to move on permanently to secure first-team football.
Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and probably James Wilson currently stand in his way of a starting berth, an obstacle sure to be accentuated if Van Gaal adds another forward to his roster this summer.
We’re prepared to go on record as backing the idea that he isn’t definitely going to join Real merely because he’s been snapped in their newest kit, but it is hard to completely rule out the idea as Rafael Benitez begins his tenure.
United fans, do you think there’s any reason Hernandez should be given another chance at United? Is the video in question evidence that Real could buy him? Let us know in the comments box below.
