Asmir Begovic has been the subject of a £6million bid as Chelsea attempt to capture the Bosnia and Herzegovina star in an attempt to replace Petr Cech, who departed for Arsenal this week.
Jose Mourinho is now on the hunt for a new second-choice goalkeeper after letting Cech depart. The veteran stopper was displaced by Thibaut Courtois last season and decided it was time to call time on his 11 year stay with Chelsea in order to pursue more first team opportunities with Arsenal.
Begovic, who has been highly-rated by Chelsea for many years, was the subject of a bid from the Blues, but Stoke are hoping for a figure closer to £8million and so rejected the initial approach.

Begovic has been a fan favourite at the Britannia since his arrival from Portsmouth in 2010. He managed to take the number one spot from Thomas Sorensen and has not looked back since, also attracting attention from Real Madrid and Manchester United during his time at Stoke.
The ins and outs
All the same Stoke are understood to be ready to allow a deal to go through due to the fact that the 28-year-old has just one year left on his current deal and looks likely to ignore any offer that the Potters throw his way.
If Begovic does leave it's expected that Stoke will promote the impressive England U21 goalkeeper Jack Butland to the number one spot in the senior squad.
Chelsea are incredibly keen to get the deal done as quick as they can and are expected to meet Stoke's demands within the next 48 hours. The Blues are wary that United are monitoring the situation very carefully, with their number one spot at Old Trafford still up in the air thanks to the uncertainty surrounding David de Gea.
