This is according to the Daily Mail, who claim sources close to the Turkey international have indicated he would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge in order to work under Jose Mourinho.
The report adds that it’s currently unclear whether Chelsea are prepared to meet Arda’s £29 million release clause, but the deal could be made possible if the Blues find a buyer for Juan Cuadrado.

Spanish newspaper Sport have sensationally claimed that Mourinho wants to sell the Colombia international, four months after agreeing to pay Fiorentina a cool £27 million for his services.
Cuadrado has failed to convince Mourinho that he is cut out for life in the Premier League and has subsequently been offered to European champions Barcelona, who have rejected the opportunity to sign the 27-year-old, along with Juventus and Inter Milan.
Arda wants new challenge
Arda, who turns 29 in January, is a versatile midfielder - capable of operating on either flank - but has produced his best performances at the Vicente Calderon from the right wing.
An industrious team player, Arda has been a magnificent servant for Atleti over the past four years but has now decided it’s time to leave Madrid for the Premier League.
The Turk reportedly wants to play for a team that requires him to carry out less defensive work - although it’s unlikely he will be afforded that luxury at Stamford Bridge with Mourinho at the helm.
The revered Portuguese coach, like Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, expects his attacking players to do their fair share of defensive work. There is no room in his team for luxury players where Mourinho is concerned.
Filipe Luis could move the other way
It’s possible that Chelsea will use back-up left-back Filipe Luis as a makeweight in a deal to sign Arda; Simeone has made no secret of the fact he would love to take the Brazilian back to the Calderon.
And the Argentine coach has already, according to the Daily Mail, lined up a replacement for Arda in the form of Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka.
The 25-year-old Ukraine international would form a hugely-exciting new-look front three at the Calderon, alongside Antoine Griezmann and Jackson Martinez.
