Dolph Ziggler has always been an outspoken WWE Superstar, he is a former World Champion and was forced to drop the championship merely weeks after winning it when he sustained a concussion.
Ever since, WWE has been reluctant to push Ziggler because he is now down as injury prone and, given the saga surrounding Daniel Bryan earlier in the year, it is likely WWE don't want to put themselves into that position again.
Dolph was reported to have asked for a push from WWE before he signed a new contract, so last week he and Adam Rose main evented Raw but this wasn't enough for The Showoff.
Not so certain
There were reports following this that the former Intercontinental Champion had re-signed with WWE and the contract had been signed for weeks, but it seems the Ohio native hasn't actually re-signed the contract, here is what he said during his appearance on The Chad Dukes Verses The World Radio Show:
“I’m thinking about it right now. I had a request for an upcoming contract that would end a few months from now, maybe two or three months from now, and they requested back what they would like, I countered another offer and we’re waiting to finalize some things.
"I love WWE and I can’t picture myself wrestling somewhere else but it’s also becoming now where that Wednesday and Thursday, I can’t just do that and get some outside live events for comedy and different movie and television options, which would only be to promote myself as a WWE superstar, to make myself a bigger star so I can advance more in WWE.
"So if I can’t find that happy medium, I might have to go away for a little bit. What I wanna do is make myself a bigger asset to WWE. If it involves leaving, that would crush me but it might.”
Dolph seems to still be negotiating his own terms with the company but it is thought that if WWE give in to his demands then he is happy to sign. Family and friends have suggested that Dolph would be happy to end his career with WWE even though there has been interest from Lucha Underground, TNA and various other promotions.
Right now Dolph is embroiled in a storyline with Lana and Rusev and he seems to be giving it his all.
His current contract doesn't run out for a few months, but hopefully this one doesn't come down to the wire much like CM Punk's famous contract talks of 2011 where he left WWE at Money in the Bank with the WWE Championship, only to return a week later with a new contract.
