Asmir Begovic has his heart set on joining Chelsea this summer irrespective of potential interest coming from Manchester United.
According to the Daily Mirror the Bosnian international would rather move to Stamford Bridge and compete for a place in Jose Mourinho’s first-team than remain at the Britannia, despite what his current employers initially believed.
Begovic wants move
It’s said Stoke City thought he would be ready to rebuff Chelsea’s interest in order to be guaranteed first-team football, but now it’s purported that he might sacrifice that simply to move to the Blues’ fold.

The issue stems from the confirmation that Petr Cech joined Arsenal officially earlier on this week, ending a season of frustration on his part but also leaving Chelsea in a spot of bother.
The Premier League champions currently only have Thibaut Courtois as a recognised senior option, and though Mourinho made it clear last season he is his primary option he will want a backup of a similar standard.

The right man
Begovic might not have as much potential for growth as Courtois but he’s certainly an established Premier League option who in recent years has been amongst English football’s most consistent. On top of that the 28-year-old only has one year on his current contract with Stoke, making the idea that he can be purchased for little money highly feasible.
To be precise it’s said that Mark Hughes and Co. are holding out for at least £8million, and rejected Chelsea’s opening gambit of £6m, issued earlier this week.
Doing the deal
Reports yesterday implied that the Blues might have to offer one of their own players plus cash in return if they want a deal wrapped up quickly, but the extra £2m might not prove to be too much of a stumbling block.
In any case Mourinho can rest assured in the knowledge that so long as he navigates Stoke he will have his man. Begovic is good enough to challenge Courtois for the first-team goalkeeper’s spot at Stamford Bridge and though he’s not as reputable as Cech, there’s few better to replace him.
