Bayern Munich sporting director Matthais Sammer has admitted that the club are open to the idea of selling Bastian Schweinsteiger in the summer window.
The 30-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks as boss Louis van Gaal looks to overhaul his squad once more - but it appeared as though his chances of linking up with Schweinsteiger were over after midfielder confirmed he wanted to stay put for next season in order to make history.
He told broadcasters Sport1: "We've won the Bundesliga for three consecutive times, no team ever has managed to win it four times. That's a motivation.

"I feel good and I'm ready to play the next three years at the top level. That's my goal."
However it seems as though Bayern could be open to the idea of letting the World Cup winner leave. Schweinsteiger has one year left on his contract and Bayern could recoup a fee of around £7.5 million by selling him to Manchester United.
Sammer says he is unsure what will happen in the transfer window, but remained open to the idea of cashing in on the veteran.
"Basically, nothing is excluded,"he said when asked about Schweinsteiger in a press conference designed to announce the arrival of Brazil forward Douglas Costa from Shakhtar Donetsk.
"It's a crazy world. He has clearly expressed that he is an important part of the team, but let's see. We're still waiting."
Manchester United are expected to spend big this summer after securing Champions League qualification last time round. They are in the market for a new midfielder and Schweinsteiger was said to be the man for the job, however Morgan Schneiderlin appears to have emerged as the club's top midfield target.
The Frenchman is said to have agreed a contract with Red Devils while the two terms thrash out a deal, with Southampton said to be holding out for a fee in the region of £24 million.
Van Gaal has already sealed a deal for Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven for £22 million, while Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is a target as well.
Reading between the lines; Bayern Munich want to sell Schweinsteiger and he wants to stay, and ultimately they club will have the final say given that the midfielder is in the final year of his contract.
Manchester United may well be delaying their swoop because of talks with Schneiderlin but they can afford both and should snap them up while they can. The Southampton man is a long-term investment and Schweinsteiger can offer them valuable experience for their return to Europe.
