Ilkay Gundogan has signed a new deal with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund, the club have confirmed.
Gundogan, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the German outfit, has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with Dortmund, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2017.
This news may well come as a blow to Premier League giants Manchester United, who have been heavily linked with the talented German international in recent time.

In fact, it was only back in late April when Sky Sports revealed that the Red Devils were close to signing the Dortmund star for a fee in the region of £21.5 million. The move, of course, failed to materailise, with Louis van Gaal's side now seemingly interested in landing Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin in this transfer window.

For now, though, the midfielder looks set to play on in Germany despite the departure of Jurgen Klopp, who left the club behind at the end of the season.
Gundogan, then, looks set to play under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel for the foreseeable future, but have Manchester United missed a trick by not signing him?
Risky from United
Perhaps Van Gaal and Co. have opted for Southampton's Schneiderlin over the signing of Gundogan, which will no doubt divide opinion amongst the club's faithful.
Gundogan, of course, would have arrived at the club with a fine pedigree on both the domestic and European scene, but he did spend an awful amount of time out injured, which is something the United hierarchy may well have thought about.
Schneiderlin, on the other hand, despite his lack of experience in elite European competition, has done the business week in, week out in the Premier League over the course of the last couple of years.
The Southampton man has been one of the standout midfielders in the division for some time now, and will only improve United in the middle of the park. He's most certainly an ideal signing for the club, as Van Gaal goes about securing a balance to his potential new-look side. United must, though, make sure they complete the deal for the French star.
