Manchester United's executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is currently negotiating the transfer of Angel di Maria with his Bayern Munich equivalent Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, according to German newspaper Sport Bild.
The winger is currently preparing for his second major international final in consecutive summers after helping Argentina to the final of the Copa America but back in Europe his future is the talk of the town.
There have been widespread rumours that Louis van Gaal is ready to cash in on Di Maria just one year after making him Britain's most expensive footballer with a deal worth £59.7 million.

A disastrous debut season at Old Trafford saw the 27-year-old drop to the bench for the latter third of the season with Van Gaal choosing to favour Ashley Young on the left wing.
Now it seems Van Gaal wants Di Maria out of the club and Woodward has flown to Germany to hold talks with one of the few clubs who could afford to pay his £285,000-a-week wages.

Bayern Munich are looking to find an adequate replacement for the ageing Franck Ribery and are ready to explore a deal with Manchester United for the former Real Madrid star.
Manchester United are obviously well aware that Di Maria's stock has fallen since his arrival at Old Trafford and have therefore set the almost unbelievable price of €50m, which, thanks to a tumbling exchange rate, would convert to just £35.5m.
That means Manchester United are set to lose over £24m on their original outlay, not the mention the £15m they would have paid the Argentine in wages.
For their trouble, Di Maria has contributed a decent 11 assists in all competitions as well as four goals. However, it was his overall contribution to the team that eventually saw him dropped to the bench.
More players to talk about
But Di Maria is not the only player likely to be on the agenda when talks between he and Rummenigge continue at some point in the near future.
Thomas Muller has reportedly fallen on the shortlist of Van Gaal once again after the Dutchman failed in his attempt to sign him last summer.
Muller and Van Gaal share a close relationship and Manchester United have apparently put together an incredible £120m financial package including a big transfer fee and a lucrative wage over five-years.
But, unlike Di Maria, Muller is a key player at Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola has frequently played down the possibility of selling the Germany international.
