The race for Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin continues to heat up as the list of clubs vying to sign him continues to grow, but it’s Manchester United who look to be in pole position.
Red Devils hero Rio Ferdinand has dropped a hint that a deal taking the France international to Old Trafford is almost done, claiming that it looks likely for over £20m.
The former England international backed the transfer to be a success whilst speaking on his YouTube channel, prompting excitement from the United faithful.
“£20-something million, it looks like it’s going to be done," Ferdinand said.
“He’s a player who could add something to United, a bit of steel, can pass the ball and play it through the lines from back to front. “I think he’s a good player, a good addition to the squad, especially if someone like [Michael] Carrick, who is so influential for United, gets injured.
“I think this guy can step in and help buffer that. I think he’s a very good, talented player.”
If Schneiderlin does arrive he’ll no doubt greatly improve United’s midfield resolve. At the moment Michael Carrick is struggling with injuries and the Red Devils don’t have a natural ball-winner in their ranks.
From a player potentially arriving to a player sure to be leaving it’s now said that Nani will have a medical this weekend ahead of a move to Fenerbahce. The Turkish giants tweeted the news last night, with it now looking likely the winger will sign for them in the coming days.
Nani’s departure will mark the end of a long affiliation with the club, but surely most United fans will think it’s high time he was moved off of the books.
Di Maria valuation
In other news United have supposedly told Bayern Munich to pay €50million if they want Angel Di Maria to move to the Allianz Arena this summer.
The Argentina international endured an indifferent first campaign in England, prompting speculation that he might be sold by Louis van Gaal. Pep Guardiola is said to be interested in striking a deal.
