WWE Tough Enough: Was the right contestant eliminated in episode two?

Published 2 Comments

Earlier this week the second episode of Tough Enough season six took place and another contestant’s hopes of earning a WWE contract ended.

Last week the viewers were given an early preview as to what each hopeful brings to the tournament and this week was much of the same, and in the coming weeks more will be clear on who can actually work inside of the ring and not just talk the talk.

Last week it was Hank that was eliminated after the ‘Boot Camp or Bust’ challenge and this week the competitors had to compete in a courage challenge.

This week, more arguments filled the Performance Center between Dianna and Daria whilst Tanner and Josh were also at each other’s throats.

The first part of the courage challenge saw the remaining 12 competitors swim through snake and alligator infested waters to reach a boat, grab an NXT Championship title and swim back.

Dianna was the quickest for the women as Daria lost her title in the water. Tanner was the quickest for the men with Josh and ZZ not far behind him.

It was a tough task for some of the competitors, Mada and Alex were unable to finish, whilst Patrick – who couldn’t swim – gave his best shot but was helped out of the water much to the amusement of coaches Booker T and Lita.

There was a lot of hype surrounding Roman Reigns’ involvement on the show but his screen time was limited to a few minutes as he introduced the contestants to Bull Dempsey and Tye Dillinger of NXT, who displayed Dempsey’s top rope finisher which led on to the next challenge.

The competitors had to go through some drills of taking a bump in the ring, displaying the correct technique whilst doing so. The majority of them did well on the initial challenge but the actual challenge came when they had to take a bump from the top rope.

Patrick and Giorgia excelled in that challenge and it was clear that they were safe, but it was the judges who would pick out the final three.

Daniel Bryan, Hulk Hogan and Paige ran through everything they saw and praised the contestants that deserved it. In the end, Bryan nominated Alex, Paige nominated Sara Lee whilst Hulk Hogan nominated Dianna.

After pleading with the fans who were voting, it was Alex who was voted out of the house which means two men have already been eliminated.

I do think Alex was the right man to go. He failed in the first challenge regardless of his swimming abilities and his attitude in general as well as his approach didn’t seem like he actually wanted to be there.

There was one particular comment which probably played a huge part in his elimination from the show, suggesting he didn’t need to know about the WWE to make it and that knowledge of the company meant nothing.

That comment certainly irked Hulk Hogan and it annoyed fellow contestant Patrick Clark also. The second week is now in the books and it’s becoming clear who will stay towards the latter stages, such as Tanner whilst fan favourites continue to emerge in the form of ZZ.

But there are some contestants who need to stand out a little more in order to stand any chance of surviving, such as Josh, Amanda and Sara Lee who look like they can succeed, but that alone won’t win them the competition.
