Who should be on the cover of WWE 2K16?

Published 5 Comments

Just over two weeks ago the first six names for the upcoming WWE 2K16 video game were announced which included the likes of Finn Bálor and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins.

The Contenders

Paige, Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan and Bad News Barrett made up the first names announced with the game featuring over 120 unique superstars in the game. And now it has been revealed that the official cover for the video game will be announced next week on Monday Night Raw.

The cover star of the video game has started to become a really big deal in recent years, dating back to WWE ’13 where John Laurinaitis announced he was going to be on the cover before CM Punk gate-crashed his party as the self-proclaimed Best in the World was announced to be on the cover.

The Rock then graced the cover of WWE 2K14 before John Cena is the latest cover star, gracing the cover of WWE 2K15. But who is in with a chance of being the cover star of WWE 2K16? Here are the stars I think should be considered.

He’s the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, he deserves to be on the cover. Nobody has had a year quite like Seth Rollins, from capturing the Money in the Bank briefcase to cashing it in at WrestleMania 31; Rollins has certainly been the biggest star on the roster.

I think having Rollins on the cover would be a great change, moving away from the likes of Cena, The Rock, Triple H and Randy Orton for example, it would certainly have more of a focus on the future of the WWE.

Roman Reigns has also had a good year in the WWE. Winning the Royal Rumble was a huge moment in his career and he held his own in the main event of WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar.

The WWE still have faith in Reigns and that alone is a reason for him to grace the cover, as it’s a big deal for Reigns especially since he’s a marketable superstar.

Another marketable superstar, another deserving cover star. Brock Lesnar has also enjoyed a great year after conquering The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania by dismantling John Cena to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

He then went on to defeat John Cena and Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble before dominating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania and was unlucky in his effort to walk out as champion and at Battleground he could win it back.

Lesnar last appeared on the ‘Here Comes The Pain’ WWE video game whilst he was also the cover star for the UFC Undisputed video game which shows he is marketable and he is popular, he’s certainly up there with one of the more deserving stars.

It’s been a while since multiple superstars featured on the front cover, and maybe this year around two or three will be able to grace the cover.

One of the more popular choices will be to have Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose on the cover considering they have done well since the split of The Shield and would be a good way to look at the future of the video game.

There’s also the option of having a past, present and future star on the cover. Considering Stone Cold Steve Austin is to be featured prominently in the game, he could be in with a shout whilst any current main roster star could make the cut and if 2K really want to push the boat out with this one, an NXT superstar could also feature.

The options are endless. Fans will be calling for a variety of names ranging from Daniel Bryan to Bray Wyatt, The Undertaker to Dean Ambrose.
