Is Dolph Ziggler leaving WWE a good thing?

This topic is one which divides opinion among many WWE fans all over the world.

Contract Winding Down

Dolph Ziggler's contract with WWE has come to an end and despite the latest rumors suggesting he has resigned with the company, he is still 'reviewing his options'.

However, my personal belief is one shared by the minority and not the majority as I personally believe Ziggler leaving the company to be the best decision not only for Ziggler himself but for the WWE.

Currently Irrelevant

Ziggler has found himself sitting on the edge of irrelevance since he lost the intercontinental title and his feud with the Authority ended. Of course he does have the feud with Rusev over Lana but the problem is that it is almost like he is sitting around waiting for Rusev to come off the injury list and in the mean time he is being used to put over superstars such as Sheamus.

Ziggler also had a lackluster showing in the disappointing Money in the Bank ladder match at this year's pay per view. Dolph Ziggler is a world class athlete who knows how to wrestle thanks to his amateur background and is most certainly world champion material despite only winning the world title twice with one of these title reigns lasting as long as a taping of Smackdown.

Huge Potential

The rumors suggest that TNA, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Lucha Underground are all interested in picking up Ziggler should he choose to leave WWE. All three of these promotions, in my opinion, could offer Ziggler what he is capable of and more importantly what he deserves, a credible title reign.

I can think of a great feud for Ziggler in each of these promotions right here on the spot. NJPW could see Ziggler vs. AJ Styles, TNA could boast Ziggler vs. EC3 and Lucha Underground could bare witness to Ziggler vs. Johnny Mundo.

All three of these feuds would be huge draws for each one of their respective promotions and should GFW take off we could see Ziggler vs. Shelton Benjamin which would be a master class in amateur wrestling and athleticism.

Legitimate Champ

In all three promotions Ziggler could be a legitimate champion with a lengthy reign but in the WWE this will never happen as he has found himself hanging around the mid-card matches and now he is out of the IC title picture and becoming more and more irrelevant.

However, in the other promotions mentioned there are possibilities for Ziggler to become involved in tag team matches as well as singles matches which are hard to come by in the world of WWE.

Now I am a big fan of Ziggler and would hate to see him go but personally I do believe it is for the best because of the above reasons. So to conclude, despite the common acceptance that Dolph had resigned it is untrue. He is still "reviewing his options" and we should expect to hear from him soon on the subject.

However, given the current situation with Ziggler's character and his angle with Lana there is a possibility Ziggler stays around at WWE but the question is, what happens after the Rusev feud?
