This is according to the Daily Mail, who understand that Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the Argentina international.
Indeed, the veteran French coach has tried twice in the past to land the former Real Madrid star, but failed on both occasions.

Provided a deal would fit into their legal framework - and that Di Maria is, of course, obtainable - the Gunners would reportedly be interested in bringing the 27-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.
Di Maria endured a disappointing debut campaign with the Red Devils, hindered by a combination of injuries and poor form. An attempted burglary at his Prestbury mansion earlier this year also had a big impact on both the player and his young family.
Di Maria back to his best at Copa America
Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have all been linked with moves for Di Maria, who insists he is ready to prove his doubters wrong during his second season with Manchester United.
The South American star produced several eye-catching performances for Argentina at the recent Copa America in Chile - although he was injured in the final against the tournament hosts - and proved he is still more than capable of performing on the biggest occasions.
One problem for Arsenal would be the player’s astronomical wages. It’s believed Di Maria currently earns a cool £280,000-a-week at Old Trafford - and these type of wages are simply beyond the Gunners’ reach.
Furthermore, Manchester United are not prepared to sell Di Maria for anything less than they paid for the versatile winger. This would mean Arsenal would need to break the British transfer record in order to bring him to north London.
Arsenal already have plenty of attacking options
Arsenal are not exactly short of attacking wide players, which make these reports all the stranger.
Wenger currently has Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck all at his disposal, while Mesut Ozil can also play in wide areas if required.
Arsenal have no plans to allow any of the aforementioned players to leave the Emirates Stadium, so the chances of the Gunners making a move for Di Maria appear to be extremely slim at this stage.
