Manchester United remain interested in signing Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich in a £60 million deal after the German had a bust up with manager Pep Guardiola.
Muller is believed to be a favourite of Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal but as it stands Bayern aren't willing to do a deal.
However the forward's relationship with Guardiola is under the microscope once more after he was reportedly seen embroiled in an argument with the former Barcelona boss. He was quoted as saying after the argument: 'Fine! So I may as well just stop now and go back inside!'
It isn't the first time that Muller and Guardiola have had a disagreement either - the World Cup winner was seen reacted angrily towards the Spaniard during their Champions League defeat to Barcelona in May.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are about to sound out Bayern's chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge about a potential move in the coming weeks, and are willing to offer in the region of £60 million.
Van Gaal is down on forward power after opting against taking up the option to make Radamel Falcao's move to Old Trafford permanent. Robin van Persie could also leave the club with a switch to Fenerbahce said to be on the cards - leaving Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez, who could also leave, as the Dutchman's only senior options.
Some reports also claim that youngster James Wilson could be sent out on loan, which seems unlikely given the paucity of attacking options at Old Trafford.
The Premier League outfit have been linked with a host of big-name strikers but so far they have had little luck. The Mail claim that Van Gaal is still taking a look at Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain, although any deal for the Uruguayan will be hugely expensive.
Although they've had little luck in bringing in a forward, Manchester United look close to sealing their second signing of the summer by landing Matteo Darmian from Torino.
The Italian is expected to complete his move shortly for a fee in the region of £12 million, and will fill a hole in Van Gaal's squad at right-back.
