Arsene Wenger might have thought the window of opportunity with regards to landing Arturo Vidal had slammed shut if he’d been paying attention to the newspapers.
A deal for the Chile international to join Real Madrid had supposedly been tied up days ago, though now Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed there has been no official approach from Los Blancos.
"Vidal? It's just rumours, Real Madrid have not come forward. We have a great relationship with them," Marotta said.
What that essentially means is that the Gunners may have a second bite of the cherry, which would be vital if Morgan Schneiderlin moves to Manchester United as expected. Arsenal are in the market for a midfielder, and with options running thin it could be in Wenger’s best interests to move for Vidal.
Ozil the No.10
In team news Mesut Ozil is to be handed the No.10 role in the Gunners setup on a regular basis next term, as Wenger bids to get the best out of him.
The Germany star looked reinvigorated towards the back-end of last season, though he’s yet to produce the sort of form that saw him shine at Real Madrid, on a regular basis in north London, and it can safely be assumed fans will hope Wenger’s latest tactic pays off.
