Matteo Darmian will undergo a medical with Manchester United on Friday before completing his £14.4 million transfer from Serie A side Torino.
This is according to the Daily Mail, who report that Torino have accepted United’s initial fee of £12.7 million. A further £1.7 million will be paid by the Red Devils in variables.
United are expected to announce the signing of Italy international Darmian before the start of the weekend, although Louis van Gaal may confirm the news in Friday’s special press conference to unveil the Red Devils’ first summer signing Memphis Depay.

The timing of the deal means Darmian will subsequently travel to the United States with his new teammates next Monday.
The 25-year-old will be put through his paces by Van Gaal before the Red Devils’ first pre-season test against Club America on July 17. United then face San Jose Earthquakes before showpiece friendlies against Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Fans impressed with Darmian
Darmian and Depay could be joined in America by French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, although Southampton have yet to agree a fee with Manchester United for the 25-year-old.
It will be fascinating to see whether or not Van Gaal takes Rafael with the rest of the squad to the United States next week. Darmian’s arrival is expected to spell the end for the Brazilian right-back as a Manchester United player.
Fans who may not be overly familiar with Darmian at the start of the week have been doing their research over recent days and have been impressed with what they’ve seen.
The versatile full-back - who is capable of playing at right-back, left-back and in central defence - is strong on the ball, can get up and down the pitch and possesses two good feet.
It appears to be a shrewd signing by Van Gaal, who was acutely aware of the need to sign a new first-choice right-back after persisting with Antonio Valencia for most of last season.
While Valencia may have performed reasonably well, the Ecuador international is not a full-back by trade and is painfully one-footed.
One Manchester United player who is unlikely to be joining Darmian and Depay in the United States this summer is Robin van Persie.
It’s understood that the Dutch striker is poised to complete his move to Fenerbahce in the next couple of days after undergoing a medical with the Turkish outfit.
