Another player is expected to leave Manchester United shortly, with full-back Rafael close to completing a switch to Galatasaray according to the Guardian.

The Brazilian was hardly used last season before his campaign was prematurely ended by a rib injury, with boss Louis van Gaal opting to use winger Antonio Valencia in his place instead.

Rafael managed just six league starts last term having seen his game time dwindle since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, the man who signed him from Fluminese.

The 25-year-old's replacement - Torino's Matteo Darmian - is expected to arrive at Old Trafford shortly and become the club's second signing of the summer.

The Italian international should complete his £12.9 million transfer in the coming days after Torini coach Giampiero Ventura confirmed the deal is all but done. “We have worked together for some time," he said when quizzed about the move to Manchester United. "Because of his desire, humility and will to achieve things, it’s right to grant him the opportunity to realise a dream to play in the Champions League in a team that will fight to win it.

“The transfer of an important player like him can open the door for us to build a stronger side.”

Italy's first-choice right-back is said to have agreed a four year contract with the Red Devils worth £30,000-per-week, and he follows PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay to Old Trafford as Van Gaal continues his squad overhaul.

Changes

The Red Devils have already let Nani leave to join Fenerbahce, while Robin van Persie is expected to follow him out of the door too. Tom Cleverley was released at the end of his contract and has since joined Everton, while Ángelo Henríquez has left to join Dinamo Zagreb.

Jonny Evans has been linked with a move to Everton or West Brom, although Manchester United are holding out for £10 million which could be an issue. David de Gea is also expected to join Real Madrid.

With Radamel Falcao returning to Monaco at the end of his loan spell at Old Trafford, Van Gaal is expected to be active for the remainder of the summer window in order to rebuild his squad for the new season.

A striker will be his priority if Van Persie does complete his switch to Fenerbahce, while he is in need of a defender and Sergio Ramos is believed to be his top target. However talks with Real Madrid have made little progress so far despite one bid worth £28 million being lodged, and the saga looks set to drag on for the remainder of the window.

The Red Devils have also been linked with both Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin as they look to bolster their midfield options and offer some support for Michael Carrick.

Is Van Gaal in danger of making too many changes too soon that will upset his squad?
