Asmir Begovic is very close to completing a move to Chelsea, as Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has admitted he expects a deal to be concluded soon.
Recent reports have indicated Chelsea’s desire to take the Bosnian stopper to Stamford Bridge following Petr Cech’s transfer to Arsenal, and it would appear that Jose Mourinho has yet again come up trumps with his wishes.
With clubs soon to be embarking on their respective pre-season tours there’s been a rush to ensure certain deals are done as soon as possible. If Hughes is to be believed then Chelsea might well have two top-class goalkeepers by the time their preparations properly get underway.

Close to conclusion
"I haven't had an update today but my understanding is that he's likely to travel to Chelsea and that will be concluded," Hughes said, as per talkSPORT.
It’s believed that Begovic is the man the Blues want as he falls into the niche bracket of being good enough to provide Thibaut Courtois with realistic competition, whilst not being too good as to make the Belgian wonder if his position is under immediate threat.
Though no official statement has been released the latest rumours suggest the deal will go ahead for around £8million, a pittance considering how important Begovic could be if Courtois suffers an injury or experiences a drop in from next season.
Moving on up
With that deal almost done Mourinho will now be able to focus on transfers for outfield players. There’s not many areas of the team that need improving, though the squad is a little thin on the ground at the moment.
