NXT Champion Finn Balor has said he was surprised when the WWE gave him permission to continue using body paint for his matches.
Balor won the NXT Championship from Kevin Owens at The Beast in the East event in Tokyo, Japan on July 4.
The Irishman recently attended the 2015 San Diego Comic Con. He gave an interview with Ringside Collectibles were he commented on his new action figures, his unique body paint appearance and using his body paint look in the WWE.

On his new action figure, the 33-year-old said he was: “Excited and surprised. I wasn’t aware I was getting a figure until today, and I wasn’t actually aware I was coming today until yesterday at 3 pm. I’m as surprised as anyone.
"From what I have seen, it was pretty spot on."

When he was asked about the origins of his body paint, Balor said it came from his time in Japan when he was looking for a new and outside-the-box look.
He said: “It was originally meant to be a once-off for the Tokyo Dome. It got a great reaction, and one show led to another, and it became a whole big thing.”
Many wrestlers like The Boogeyman have worn body paint in the past whilst wrestling in the WWE.
Once he knew he was going to be wrestling in the WWE, Balor thought he would be leaving the body paint part of him behind, but that wasn't the case.
"I was here two or three weeks then I had a meeting with someone at the office and they said 'Tell us about these demon paints you do. We want to know more about it'," the 33-year-old said.
"I just laid it on the table and they said ‘we want you to try it here sometime'."
In terms of any more surprises, Balor said he has already been thinking about adjusting his entrance.
The Irishman said: "I've already been toying with the idea of changing already. Some people have had to reel me back in with some of the ideas.
"I guess once we get to the stage of Wrestlemania and the big show, it's going to be wacky."
It appears that Balor is already optimistic that he will appear at a Wrestlemania.
A wrestler of his skill, caliber and history in the wrestling business certainly deserves it. I can't wait to see what he has in store for his entrance and who the WWE could pair him up against in what is bound to be an exciting match.
Balor will be defending his NXT Championship against Owens the night before SummerSlam at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on August 22.
