Goalkeeper Petr Cech made the move across London earlier this month to join Arsenal. Chelsea captain John Terry went as far as saying Cech could save Arsenal up to 15 points this coming season.

With Arsenal looking better than they have in about a decade, Frank Lampard has revealed the Gunners are serious title contenders and has warned Chelsea.

“Arsenal signing Petr Cech is a big deal. A lot of mates who are Arsenal fans have bemoaned their keeper situation for ages.

“Cech is a world-class keeper and person and can help push Arsenal into the running next season. Arsenal weren’t a million miles away over the last few seasons.

“They are always challenging before falling just short but Cech going there, as John Terry said recently, will save them points.

“Manchester City and Chelsea will be challenging for the title once again. They remain favourites but Petr will make a difference.”

Selection dilemma

Arsene Wenger will have an interesting selection headache when choosing between his three goalkeepers.

Wojciech Szczesny, has displayed undeniable talent and decision-making skills. The keeper communicates well with the back four and was a rock at the back during the FA Cup final, leaving no room for error.

Towards the end of last season, Colombian, David Ospina took his place in the Arsenal starting XI, and proved why he deserved to be the Gunners number one.

Petr Cech's experience and expertise will give him an advantage over the two younger goalkeepers, particularly as Ospina has been linked with a move away from north London.
