Manchester United’s 26-man squad for the upcoming pre-season tour of the United States has been named - and there is no room for either Victor Valdes or Rafael.
David de Gea is named amongst the 26, despite being strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid all summer, while the club’s four new summer signings Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian and Morgan Schneiderlin are also included.
Robin van Persie is not in the squad - the Dutch striker is on the brink of finalising his move to Fenerbahce - but there is room for young midfielder Sean Goss.

Manchester United flew out to the US on Monday afternoon, shortly after the deals for Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin were confirmed on the Red Devils’ official website, ahead of their opening pre-season fixture against Club America in Seattle on Friday night.
The Red Devils then take on San Jose Earthquakes, before two showpiece friendlies against Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Valdes to leave United?
Valdes was expected to be named in Manchester United’s squad and, as yet, no explanation has been given as to why the Spanish goalkeeper has not travelled.
It was reported last week that Valdes was in talks with newly-promoted Turkish side Antalyaspor, although his agent has stated that the 33-year-old wants to stay at Old Trafford.
The former Barcelona keeper has 12 months left to run on his contract and was expected to take the place of De Gea as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper next season.
However, the chances of De Gea staying at Old Trafford are beginning to increase, despite the fact Real Madrid have recently sold Iker Casillas.
Manchester United are digging their heels in with Real Madrid, telling the Spanish giants they can only sign De Gea this summer if they agree to sell Sergio Ramos - and potentially Keylor Navas, too - in return.
It’s possible that De Gea will stay at Old Trafford for one more season before completing his move to the Bernabeu on a free transfer in the summer of 2016.
Should that happen then Valdes, who wants first-team football after spending the past six months sitting on the Manchester United bench, is likely to move elsewhere.
Rafael set to leave
Rafael, meanwhile, has been told that he can leave Old Trafford this summer after failing to convince Van Gaal.
The £14.4 million arrival of Italy international Darmian from Torino last week has effectively ended the Brazilian’s Manchester United career.
