New Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian has confirmed that he never wrote a farewell letter to Torino fans, despite the fact it was reported in the media.
Darmian to United
The defender was confirmed as a United player after moving to Old Trafford in a deal worth £12million, but it would appear there was no sorrowful goodbye, irrespective of what has been thus far claimed.
Louis van Gaal is expected to be busy over the summer with yet another spending spree, in order to stamp his mark on the squad.

The Dutchman spent around £150m last summer and is prepared to spend the same again after already signing Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven, Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich and Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton.
Fake Farewell from Darmian
With regards to Darmian's purchase, an emotional message popped up on an Instagram account claiming to be the player, and it read: "It has been a wonderful three years where I learned to play, have fun and I learned above all to live! It is thanks to my team-mates and my fans and Mr (Giampiero) Ventura, who is more than a coach to me, a second father.
"Right now I have no words, I'm just crying. Remember that I leave Turin for a future career choice, not because I am evil. Turin will always be my second home, I never tire of her. I wish good luck to all the team and the fans.
"This is not a goodbye but I see you soon. In these three years we went back to Serie A, we won against Juventus after 20 years and we are back in the Europa League. I think I go away with a clear conscience, at least I hope so. I did my best for this team, I gave all of my heart and my soul.
"It was an honor to play for Torino and also be the captain in a few games!
"I think the love I gave to this city, will be returned in a few ways.
"Thanks for everything Turin!
"Matteo Darmian. The day has come, after three fantastic years, to leave Turin."
Darmian Rubbishes Letter
However, the right-back has since commented on the message and has informed fans that he doesn't have an Instagram account and confirmed that the letter wasn't from himself.
He said: "Lads, I don't have an Instagram account. Those you see in my name are fake."
