Tactical Stability

Louis Van Gaal's tactical system is the one which favours possession play. For such a system to work efficiently, the team needs a strong midfield. Louis van Gaal has struggled to bring that level of stability in the midfield since he began the 2014-2015 season with Manchester United. Constant injuries to the players turned out to be the primary reason due to which the system lacked the desired balance. Players were relocated from their regular positions to fill emptied slots.

Manchester United who began their 2014-2015 season with four strikers and are currently left with only two strikers with Robin Van Persie set to depart and Radamel Falcao joining Chelsea on loan.

With Robin Van Persie likely to leave and Javier Hernandez injured, Manchester United currently with only Wayne Rooney and James Wilson. Wayne Rooney, who was made to play as a midfielder many times in the previous season, could now return to his striking position with Schweinsteiger likely to take up that midfield position.

Also the recent addition to the team, Memphis Depay can also play as a striker according to Van Gaal. This could easy out some pressure off the manager's shoulders when it comes to buying a new striker.

The tactical exigency of having experience in the midfield can be fulfilled with addition of the German midfielder and Rooney can provide the desired experience in the striking position. This will bring more solidity to the current system and will prove to be more beneficial for the team.

With these radical additions plus more including Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian, Manchester United will definitely be challenging for silverware come next season.

What would be deemed as a success at Manchester United next season - top three?
