Mark Bosnich has revealed that he believes David de Gea will now move to Real Madrid as a result of FC Porto signing former Los Blancos captain Iker Casillas.
The ex-United stopper, who successfully predicted that United were going to sign Morgan Schneiderlin last week, told talkSPORT that he believes Real Madrid’s protracted deal for De Gea could now come to fruition due to the Spanish giant’s own transfer business.
Space now open
At the weekend Casillas’ switch to Porto was confirmed, with the legendary ‘keeper issuing a tearful goodbye to those associated with the Santiago Bernabeu and leaving a gaping hole to be filled between the sticks.

Indeed with his exit Real have just Costa Rican Keylor Navas to fall back on, and whilst he’s far from shabby he’s not really befitting of the favoured Galactico stance that has characterised Florentino Perez’s reign as president.
As a result they’ve been hotly linked with a move for the in-form De Gea, with Bosnich now believing a move is imminent.
“I think he will join Real Madrid because of the fact Casillas has cleared the way," Bosnich said.
"Real Madrid will want a world class goalkeeper and David De Gea is that. It is quite significant that Iker Casillas has left and I think that paves the way for David De Gea to go.”
An obstacle remains
One look at the latest reports on the matter heavily infer that the only obstacle preventing the switch from taking place is the agreement of a fee between the two clubs.
Naturally United are currently trying to squeeze as much money out of Real as they can at the moment, and with plenty of time left in the transfer window it’s likely they’ll play hard-ball until crunch time arrives.
However, since the Spaniard has but a year left on his Old Trafford contract the Red Devils will know they have to sell him this summer or risk losing him for free in 2016; for Real it is simply a case of waiting and watching.
De Gea's stance
The player himself appears ready to make a move to the Bernabeu. His silence on the whole matter can be taken as a clear indication that he isn’t going to outright snub a move - otherwise he would have said so - meaning that if the two clubs can come to an agreement a move will more than likely happen.
At the moment De Gea is with Van Gaal’s United squad on their pre-season tour of the States, which is far more than most fans would have dared hope for at the beginning of the summer. Expecting him to stay might be asking a bit much, but at the very least United appear to set for maximum compensation.
