Top clubs in England are monitoring Chile’s Charles Aranguiz, 26, after impressive displays for club and country.
The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal are considering a swoop for the midfielder this summer. Aranguiz was a key player for Chile in the 2014 World Cup and put in a strong performance in the recent Copa America.
However, his club are reluctant to let him leave just now, and they may try to drive up his fee in an attempt to repel eventual suitors. Internacional are still in the Copa Libertadores, and they will want to keep other clubs from approaching the player; at least until after their involvement in the tournament is over. He's currently valued at between £6 and £7 million but will most likely costs nearly double that.
Charles Aranguiz is a versatile all-round midfielder playing for Brazilian side Internacional. He can play in various positions in midfield but is arguably best as a deep-lying playmaker or a box-box player.
He’s a very fit player with a tremendous engine allowing him to cover a lot of ground. In addition, he is very skilled in operating in limited space in midfield. The Chilean national team have integrated high and aggressive pressing into their style of play, which suits Aranguiz. He has represented his country 36 times so far.
Last season, Aranguiz made 24 appearances for Internacional scoring six goals and creating 38 chances. He averaged a pass accuracy of 86% and received seven yellow cards.
He sometimes gets too eager in duels, and his many bookings are a result of his tenacity and temper. 2015 was a great year for Aranguiz on club level as Chile won the Copa America against Argentina. He played 535 minutes in the overall tournament scoring two goals. He made an assists and received one booking in his six starts.
