After only signing for Manchester United last season, Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes is set to quit Old Trafford for a move to newly promoted Turkish side Antalyaspor, according to Goal.com.
Valdes played a back-up role under Louis van Gaal as the Dutch manager preferred his compatriot David de Gea ahead of him last time round. Having only made two first-team appearances for the Red Devils in the entirety of last term, Valdes has begun talks for a potential move away.
The Akdeniz University Stadium-based outfit have already signed Valdes’ former teammate Samuel Eto’o and are in advanced negotiations with Brazilian legend Ronaldinho as well according to reports.
Speaking to Eurosport, Antalyaspor press officer Hasan Ali Ceylan has admitted talks have begun. He said: ”We are in talks with Victor Valdes. Once an agreement is reached we will be able to sign yet another world star to Antalyaspor.”
Valdes is looking for first-team football and a move to Turkey could help that become a reality. Meanwhile the transfer saga regarding David de Gea to Real Madrid in still ongoing and sources close to the Galacticos believe negotiations will go up until the last minutes of the transfer window.
But Real Madrid are optimistic of the deal going through as the 25-year old 'keeper has his heart set on a move to the Spanish capital.
De Gea has travelled with Manchester United for their pre-season tour of north America. Van Gaal has praised the professional attitude of the player and was quoted saying: ”I think he is a very professional player and he showed fantastic attitude until now and I think that for all my players, not only de Gea but others who have to behave themselves very professionally.”
Manchester United is on a squad clear-out this summer, with Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez, Rafael da Silva and Jonny Evans amongst those destined for the exit doors. Losing both goalkeepers at this juncture will be a huge blow to The Red Devils.
