Christian Benteke is set on a move to Liverpool, but may have to force through any transfer this summer.
This has been reported by the Daily Mail, who claim that the Belgian international wants to complete a move to Merseyside sooner rather than later, with Aston Villa determined to secure £32.5 million for his signature in this transfer window.
£32.5m, of course, is his current buy-out clause at Villa Park, however it appears that the Liverpool hierarchy aren't too keen on splashing out such a large sum on the forward's services.

In fact, the same report from the Mail claim that the Reds may be willing to reach the fee with a £20m down-payment plus add ons included.
It's uncertain, however, as to whether Villa officials would accept a package for their star striker or whether they'd rather the full some immediately.

Benteke, of course, is recognised as one of the leading strikers in England's elite division after producing the goods for Villa in recent time. The Belgian star played a key role in helping secure the club's Premier League status last term and also enjoyed fine success as the club reached the FA Cup final.
And, as well as Liverpool, Premier League giants Manchester United have also been credited with interest in the forward of late, but it appears that the Merseyside outfit are in the driving seat to land him despite their reluctance to match his buy-out clause.
A risk but something is needed
There's no doubt about it, the potential big-money signing of Christian Benteke will come as a major risk for Brendan Rodgers, who is in need of a top striker in the immediate future.
Ultimately, he really can't afford to fail again in terms of striker recruitment this summer. Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim will provide a great deal in the final third of the pitch, but the club are clearly in need of an out and out striker.
Benteke could be that man, but his signing may well change Liverpool. The Belgian international is at his best when acting as a target man, so the Reds would have to change their style if they landed the Aston Villa man.
Perhaps, though, after last season's disappointment, Rodgers needs to try something different, so pursuing Benteke could actually be the right thing to do. Liverpool were too predictable last season, so perhaps Benteke would mix things up.
