Surprise move for Savic
Stefan Savic isn’t a name you would readily associate with success in Manchester, but it appears that he might well be on his way back there, and not to link up with former club Manchester City.
In a batch of speculation sure to surprise all Manchester United fans it’s been claimed this morning that the Red Devils have hatched a plan to capture the centre-back from Fiorentina, and are one of the clubs holding talks in a bid to take him to Old Trafford.
Reports state that Sergio Ramos and Nicolas Otamendi remain the top defensive targets for Louis van Gaal, but he will turn to Savic as an alternative option if he’s forced to. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Van Gaal vs Valdes
Meanwhile arguably the biggest talking point of this morning centres around the fact that Victor Valdes probably isn’t going to be playing for United anymore.
Van Gaal has told the press that he doesn’t want the Spaniard as he refused to play for the reserves last season, whilst Valdes has hit back on Twitter. Grab your coats, this could get messy, particularly as the two men have previous when it comes to standing on opposite sides of the field.
Back when Van Gaal was Valdes’ manager at Barcelona they had something of a fall-out, though any wounds looked to have been patched up when the Spaniard moved to Old Trafford in January. Perhaps that wasn’t the case.
Vidal transfer links no more
Meanwhile back to the transfer market and it seems United have finally missed out on the chance to sign Arturo Vidal.
Not that the Red Devils need him anymore since they’ve clinched both Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, but fans can rest easy knowing they’ll see no more ‘Vidal has signed for United’ rumours, since he’s put pen to paper with Bayern Munich.
