Does Louis van Gaal mean business or is he just plain crazy?
That is the question many Manchester United fans are asking themselves after he lampooned Victor Valdes for his unwillingness to adopt his sacred philosophy.
His punishment will be a pre-mature end to his short stay at Old Trafford with Van Gaal now ready to sell the former Barcelona star for a nominal fee just six months after handing him an 18-month deal.

But while Valdes will go down as one of the most useless signings in Manchester United history, making just two senior appearances, he could yet prove to be of great use to the club.
Marca are claiming that Valencia have immediately declared their interest in signing Valdes to replace Diego Alves, who has been ruled out for the rest of the year with a knee injury.
"He doesn't follow my philosophy. There is no place for someone like that" - Louis van Gaal
Marca have still mentioned the transfer saga of Nicolas Otamendi and suggested that Valencia could look to get Valdes included in any deal that sees the defender move to Old Trafford.
The Argentinian centre-back is seen as a back-up option for Louis van Gaal, who is still hoping to sign Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid.
Valencia have so far dismissed enquiries from Old Trafford, but may be open to a deal now Manchester United have something they want.
The price for Otamendi is believed to be around €50m, which would be enough to meet the release clause in his contract.
There is no price set for Valdes, but with just one-year left on his contract and almost no football over the last two years, it is likely to be on the light side.
It could be conceivable that Valencia would need as little as €2m-€3m to sign Valdes, especially considering his current status as black sheep in Manchester.
As a result, it is unlikely either United or Valencia will see the value of including the 33-year-old in any transfer deal for Otamendi.
How much is Victor Valdes worth in the transfer market and is Louis van Gaal right to sell him?
