Paris Saint-Germain are growing increasingly confident that they will be able to sign Manchester United star Angel Di Maria this summer, according to reports.
Building on recent batches of speculation, the Daily Mirror today claims that the Ligue 1 champions are of the opinion that United will sell Di Maria only a year after purchasing him from Real Madrid, with Louis van Gaal’s supposed interest in Pedro acting as a major piece of evidence.
It’s said that United want to land the Barcelona winger as he’s struggling on the periphery of Luis Enrique’s squad, and that they will submit an offer as soon as this week to get the ball rolling.

A direct consequence is that PSG have been spurred on to believe that they will be successful in their pursuit of Di Maria, despite the fact that they’re trying to land him in a cut-price deal.
Will United sell?
United paid a club-record £59.7million for the Argentina international’s services last summer, meaning that it’s safe to assume they will want to recoup most of that if they’re to entertain the idea of letting him go. Interestingly though it’s believed the sum on the table from PSG is £40m, marking a potentially significant loss.
That said Adidas’ new kit sponsorship deal to some degree negates fears over United not having money in their budget to take risks, and though Van Gaal will be far from happy to let Di Maria leave on the cheap, he may think it a gamble worth accepting if it frees up space for Pedro.
Indeed Di Maria has been far from the game-changer United fans were initially expecting to welcome when he was purchased from Real. His form upon arrival promised much, but soon waned as he struggled to get to grips with the English game.
Then came the infamous burglary of his mansion in Manchester, one that coincided with a dramatic loss of form and the idea that both he and his wife are keen to move away from England.
If that is the case then PSG could potentially offer him a lucrative escape route, although it has been said this past week that it’s a return to the Santiago Bernabeu that he would covet most.
