Robin van Persie has admitted he talks with Arsene Wenger regularly, dismissing the idea that the pair’s relationship soured when he moved to Manchester United in 2012. Van Persie became the spearhead of United’s attack and is credited by many as being the main reason the Red Devils won the Premier League during Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season at the club as manager. Naturally Gunners fans were less than impressed with his career choice, but it would appear ill-thoughts aren’t harboured towards the striker by Wenger. Van Persie, who recently moved to Fenerbahce, told how he and Wenger spoke regularly, describing the Frenchman as a classy man. In other news Ajax are said to be keeping tabs on Wojciech Szczesny, and could move for the goalkeeper if their current first-choice, Jasper Cillessen, joins United. It’s said the Dutch stopper is seen as an ideal replacement for David de Gea if he leaves Old Trafford, though it’s not known if Wenger would let Szczesny transfer Holland.
