When Petr Cech arrived at Arsenal from Chelsea this summer it’s safe to say most fans thought it would mark the end of David Ospina, not Wojciech Szczesny.
Then when reports earlier this week surfaced suggesting that the Pole is wanted by Ajax, things started getting interesting. Well, the cauldron looks close to bubbling over as the goalkeeper has sparked mass speculation with his actions on Instagram.
Szczesny followed AS Roma, along with a number of their players, prompting rumours that he is set to swap the Arsenal bench for life at the Stadio Olimpico.
We expect he’ll publicly deny the gossip later today, and probably claim he was hacked, because that’s how it usually goes, but at the moment it’s unclear. One thing's for sure, and that’s that Wenger will let go one of his three ‘keepers, it just doesn’t make sense to keep them all.
Benzema or Higuain?
Moving swiftly on it’s claimed Arsene Wenger is still considering moves for either Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain. Both men are valued highly by their respective clubs and it’s said he will focus his efforts on one. Which one? It’s anyone’s guess I’m afraid.
From the looks of it Benzema appears the more viable candidate as Real Madrid are notorious for brokering big deals, and letting players leave when they feel they’ve had their use. Either man would be a great signing, but Wenger certainly has his work cut out.
Matic on Cech
Last but not least we turn to Nemanja Matic, who has made a statement sure to amuse many Arsenal supporters. The Serbian bruiser told how he was unhappy with the sale of Petr Cech, who of course moved to the Gunners for £11million early in the transfer window.
It certainly seems as though Arsenal have one up on their rivals given that Cech could be in his supposed ‘peak years’ for a ‘keeper. Will it be enough to win them the league?
