The New York Knicks' decision to draft Kristaps Porzingis with their 2015 draft lottery pick has certainly generated its fair share of talking points.
He was booed on the night, and has been praised for his summer league performances since. Not to mention the reports that resident Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony was rumored to be less than impressed with the pick.
But whilst Melo may have been unhappy with Porzingis' arrival we do now know, thanks to the young prospect himself, that Anthony at least sent him a text message to welcome him to New York. Unfortunately for the All-Star the contents of that conversation are a little cringe-worthy to say the least.

Speaking in an interview with Bleacher Report, Porzingis recounted the somewhat awkward draft night exchange:
"Carmelo Anthony reached out to me after I got drafted," explained Porzingis. "He said, "Congrats, welcome to the team." I didn't have his number, so I texted back, "Who's this?"
"And then a few minutes later, he said, "This is Melo" with his No. 7 as the "l."
That's right. Carmelo Anthony actually refers to himself as 'Me7o.'
Of course, Carmelo Anthony can introduce himself however he pleases, it is his prerogative. And we get that in the modern age of consumerism your brand is everything - 'Me7o' being the internet handle used by the player for some time now.
But you would think the Knicks star would lay off pushing 'brand Melo' when introducing himself to a new teammate.
Porzingis went on to reveal that he and Melo first met during a pre-draft workout, and that he has spoken to the perennial All-Star a number of times since linking up with the NYC franchise.
If the veteran did have a problem with the Knicks drafting the Latvian last month it certainly doesn't look like Porzingis has noticed anything frosty in their relationship.
After outing Anthony's cringe-worthy text etiquette however that might change.
