Arsene Wenger is ready to pull all his resources into signing Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema this summer, but has highlighted an alternative should the Spanish club refuse to sell.
This is a claim made by the well respected El Confidencial journalist Kike Marin, who claims the identity of this back-up option remains a closely guarded secret in north London.
Arsenal have been linked with a £40m move for the France international with a number of media outlets claiming that he is now Wenger's No1 priority for the rest of the summer transfer window.

It will not be the first time Wenger has tried to prise Benzema away from the Bernabeu, originally trying to bring him to north London along with Mesut Ozil in 2013.
Wenger has been encouraged by reports that Real Madrid's new manager Rafa Benitez is preparing to use Cristiano Ronaldo in a central role next season, potentially leaving Benzema on the bench.
It is still not clear whether Benitez will execute this early plan and it is generally accepted that Florentino Perez wants to see Benzema, who was one of his first signings as president, become a Los Blancos legend.
The consensus has so far been that Wenger will move to sign a world-class player, but would be happy to stick with Olivier Giroud as his main frontman if he can't sign someone of Benzema's quality.
However, Marin has revealed that the Arsenal manager is ready to reinforce his attacking line regardless of whether Benzema signs or not and has a top secret alternative to the 27-year-old.
Marin has built a reputation of reliability with regards to Arsenal transfer news over the last two summers after being one of the first journalists to reveal Ozil's move from Real Madrid.
Last summer, he was also one of the first to reveal that Arsenal's move for Sami Khedira had broken down over the German's contract demands.
Marin also tweeted about our next Arsenal story, which claims Barcelona starlet Sergi Samper has emerged as a target for Wenger as well.
The 20-year-old midfielder was originally offered the chance to join Arsenal alongside Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral in 2011, but decided to stay in Catalunya.
But while Bellerin has gone onto star for the Gunners, Samper is still well down the pecking order at the Nou Camp.
Reports in Spain have claimed that Wenger is ready to make a renewed effort to bring him to Arsenal this summer. A bid of £8.5m will be required.
