Five Players Manchester United must sign

Published 1 Comments

Manchester United has been more than active in the transfer market this season. Louis van Gaal has sent a clear message to other clubs that his team plan to challenge for the title again, with the signings of: Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian and Morgan Schneiderlin.

They have also been linked with a host of other players with news of Sergio Ramos being the hottest.

They are also in the market to buy at least one world class goalkeeper. Besides, there also remains a frightening possibility of their number one, David de Gea leaving for Madrid.

Following is a list compiled of five players which might make the Red Devils a force to be reckoned with this season:

1. Sergio Ramos

The void left by the departure of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand can be expertly filled in by Ramos. He has been leading the Real Madrid defence for some time now.

Not only is he a good tactician who excels in reading the game perfectly but also has the uncanny knack of scoring important goals. Manchester United will benefit hugely from his experience at the highest level if they become successful in capturing Los Blancos defender.

2. Nicolas Otamendi

The Argentine centre back enjoyed a stellar debut season with Valencia. His rock solid performances at the back were vital as the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

Last season he received the most Man-of-the-Match awards, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in La Liga. The 27-year-old would a good addition to the club.

3. Alexandre Lacazette

With the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao and the expected departure of Javier Hernandez, Manchester United only have Wayne Rooney to play up front. Their forward problem could be solved by the Lyon striker who is the hottest striking property in Europe at the moment.

He plundered 27 goals in the French League last season. At 24, he has age on his side and it could be a deadly combination if Lacazette and Rooney partnered each other.

4. Hugo Lloris

If De Gea was to depart, the Tottenham and French captain is more of an able replacement. His lightning quick reflexes have saved Spurs on many occasions. But with the club failing to guarantee a spot in the Champions League, they might find it hard to keep their number one.

Lloris is a high-calibre player who deserves to play Champions League football and Manchester United must try all they can to get their hands on the Frenchman, should De Gea depart Old Trafford.

5. Thomas Muller

The Bayern Munich and Germany forward is another option for Louis van Gaal. He is a hard-worker and would very much suit Van Gaal’s style of play as he has played under the Dutchman during his stint with the Bavarian outfit. His versatility upfront combined with his goals may solve United’s problems.
