This time next month, we will all be getting ready for the biggest party of the summer as the Barclays Center plays host to the annual SummerSlam pay-per-view.

So far, only one match has been announced for the event. The Undertaker made a surprising return at Battleground and the rematch against Brock Lesnar has been set.

The WWE will be trying to go all out for SummerSlam, and they’ve signalled their intent by bringing back The Undertaker for the event whilst Sting is also rumoured to be competing.

So if the WWE want to make this the biggest and most memorable SummerSlam to date, they obviously need some big matches to take place on the night and Dave Meltzer has provided some light on which matches we should expect to see take place.

Here are the matches we could see at SummerSlam alongside The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar.

SETH ROLLINS © VS. JOHN CENA – WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

The build-up for this match started this past week at Monday Night Raw when United States Champion John Cena interrupted the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

This means the United States Championship may not be defended at SummerSlam, unless someone steps up to the open challenge and dethrones Cena. This should be a solid match, Rollins is a fantastic talent and Cena has helped put on some five star matches this year.

This may not be something a lot of fans will want to take place considering Rollins is a heel and Cena doesn’t get a typical face reaction, but the match itself as well as the build-up should be good and it will be another big test for Rollins to prove himself as a worthy champion.

KEVIN OWENS VS. CESARO

The big news this week surrounds Kevin Owens and his rumoured demotion from being a main event superstar to being a mid-carder; similar to the likes of Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro.

However, Owens and Cesaro will have a huge opportunity to steal the show at SummerSlam as both men have a point to prove and we know this match will be great because of the chemistry the two have together.

They’ve also put on some great matches in the last few weeks and with Owens taking on Finn Balor at TakeOver: Brooklyn the night before SummerSlam, he has the perfect opportunity to leave all of the fans talking about himself and Cesaro.

THE WYATT FAMILY VS. ROMAN REIGNS, DEAN AMBROSE & STING

Another match to keep your eye on. First off, this match will take place if Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper add another member to the family as Erick Rowan is out injured. If they stick to a traditional tag team then we will see Wyatt and Harper take on Reigns and Ambrose.

But with the WWE looking to make it a huge night, expect Sting to be involved so we should also expect a new member added to The Wyatt Family, potentially Bo Dallas.

Reigns and Wyatt put on a great performance which lived up to the hype at Battleground. If we get some of the same this time round, mixed up with the hype surrounding Sting and the craziness surrounding Ambrose, it’s definitely one of the bigger matches of the event.

TEAM BELLA VS. PAIGE, BECKY LYNCH & CHARLOTTE VS. NAOMI, TAMINA & SASHA BANKS

This looks to be the divas match the WWE will be going with, and rightfully so. The addition of Banks, Lynch and Charlotte have been welcomed and the divas division is finally interesting once more.

We have seen members of each team battle it out in recent weeks to judging by the fact SummerSlam is such a massive event, the WWE will probably go all out and throw all nine divas into action in the hope of making it a show-stealer.

This does mean the Divas Championship won’t be on the line, which is what the WWE will be going with as it will allow Nikki Bella to overtake AJ Lee’s record of being the longest reigning Diva’s Champion.

RYBACK © VS. THE BIG SHOW – INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

SummerSlam looks to be the event where the two big men will finally collide. In the coming weeks we could see The Miz taken out of the equation which is what would have happened anyway if the match at Battleground took place.

It’s another opportunity for Ryback to prove himself as a deserving champion especially now that’s he’s switched up his style which has been refreshing to see.

With The Big Show, it’s as if he’s switching from face to heel on a weekly basis so he needs to step it up in the build-up to this match if he’s to be taken as a serious threat.

THE PRIME TIME PLAYERS © VS. NEW DAY - WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

New Day are probably the team in the division that will get another opportunity at the titles. They deserve it though. They’re proving to be highly entertaining, more so than other teams in the tag team division.

There’s also the chance the WWE decide to throw in multiple teams. The likes of The Lucha Dragons and The Ascension will also be looking to get a shot at the gold so they may also be added to the match.

DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. RUSEV

This all depends on whether Ziggler will finish shooting his movie, ‘6:42’.

He and Rusev have had plenty of confrontations which has led us all to believe the two will go at it at some point, and it would be a shame if all of that led to nothing.

Hopefully Ziggler’s schedule allows him to compete so he and Rusev can also play their part in making SummerSlam a massive event.
