Karim Benzema will not be joining Arsenal this summer, confirms agent

Arsenal won’t be landing Karim Benzema this summer, as the player is ‘1,000 percent’ staying at Real Madrid past the end of the transfer window, according to his agent.

Arsene Wenger has been hotly linked with a move for a top European striker over the course of the past few weeks, with Benzema having been touted as a possible option due to the fact he isn’t the main man at Real Madrid.

Benzema rumours

On top of that Arsenal director Lord Harris confirmed this morning that Wenger would be able to smash the club’s transfer record if he found the right man to lead his front-line.

Put two and two together and you come up with a pretty substantial argument for the Gunners having the capacity to chase Benzema.

However, his agent has looked to dampen that particular flame quickly, insisting that the France international won’t be leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.

Striker going nowhere

"Karim is very happy at Real Madrid and he will be a Real Madrid player by the end of this transfer window, 1,000 percent," Benzema's agent, Karim Djaziri said, as per the Daily Telegraph.

"Karim is not looking to move anywhere this summer."

Indeed Arsenal fans will be gutted to learn that the former Lyon man won’t be joining their side this summer.

Given how prolific he has proven himself to be during his career to date it’s fair to rank him amongst the best in Europe, and the Gunners are perhaps one or two signings away from boasting a side capable of challenging for major trophies on all fronts.

Wenger changes

Having already landed Petr Cech from Chelsea, Wenger is now turning his attentions to his outfield playing staff.

Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck may be established options up top, but there’s certainly room for improvement in the goalscoring department.
