Split decision for Depor

Published Add your comment

Spanish outfit Deportivo La Coruna will have to dig deep to reach the first round proper of the UEFA Cup after being paired with Hajduk Split in the draw for the second qualifying round in Nyon on Friday.

A late-season charge saw Depor finish ninth in the Primera Liga last term and claim an Intertoto Cup berth, but Miguel Angel Lotina´s troops face a stern test against Hajduk, who have been crowned Croatian champions six times since the country split from Yugoslavia in 1992.

Stuttgart - Champions League challengers last year - scraped into the UEFA Cup via the Intertoto Cup after struggling in the German Bundesliga last season and will face Hungarian outfit Gyori ETO.
