Fiorentina insist Adrian Mutu will remain at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, despite reports that the striker is on the verge of sealing a move to Roma.

Both Serie A clubs admitted on Wednesday that an offer had been made by the capital club for Mutu. But amid reports that a switch is imminent, the Viola claim the 29-year-old, who said last week he wanted to end his career in Florence, is not for sale.

A brief statement on the Fiorentina website,, read: "Fiorentina president, Andrea della Valle, in reference to Roma´s offer, announces that, for the Viola, Adrian Mutu is and remains a Fiorentina player."
