AS Roma have the option to sign Wojciech Szczesny on a permanent basis next summer for just £5 million according to the Mirror.
The goalkeeper has joined Roma on a season-long loan following the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea.
The Mirror say that Szczesny's future at Arsenal is as good as over, with David Ospina installed as the club's number two for the long-term. Arsene Wenger moved to deny that yesterday, insisting that the Poland international still had every chance of returning to north London to reclaim his No1 jersey, however the doesn't seem to be the case.
The Arsenal boss told reporters: “I believe he will have a future at Arsenal. I personally rate him highly – you do not take a boy and put him in the first team at the age of 20 [if you don’t]. He already has huge experience. I don’t want that experience at such a young age to be wasted.”
Mourinho accuses Wenger over transfer spend
Jose Mourinho has accused Arsene Wenger of trying to buy the title ahead of their Community Shield showdown at Wembley on Sunday.
The pair have a long-standing rivalry dating back to the Special One branding his rival a 'voyeur' and a 'specialist in failure'. Mourinho has also hit out at his title rivals for trying to buy the league crown recently, and he believes Arsenal belong in that category.
The Gunners have splashed the cash on the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in recent years, and Mourinho believes they can no longer be considered underdogs ahead as they go in search of their first Premier League title in 11 years.
"If you add up the amounts clubs have spent in the last three or four years I think maybe you will find a surprise," said Mourinho, who allowed goalkeeper Petr Cech to join Arsenal in an £11 million deal last month.
"If you put Ozil plus Alexis Sanchez, plus Chambers, plus Debuchy, you will find a surprise. It's a fantastic squad with good players, fantastic goalkeeper, they are more than ready to be a title contenders.
"Get a calculator. That is the easiest thing, it leaves no space for speculation. If you want to be honest, objective and pragmatic it is the easiest job for a manager to do."
West Ham announce Arsenal youngster deal
West Ham announced last night that they had completed the signing of Arsenal youngster George Dobson.
An official statement on their website read: "West Ham United are delighted to announce the signing of highly-rated central midfielder George Dobson from Arsenal.
"Dobson is a boyhood Hammers fan and jumped at the chance to sign for the east London Club." Thwe 17-year-old added: “I am over the moon to have signed and have been a West Ham fan since I was five-years-of -age and this is a surreal moment. Putting pen to paper is a dream come true for me.
“I had a great ten-years with Arsenal and they helped me as a footballer and as a person. But the time is right to move and I cannot wait to get started. I give 100 per cent every time I put the shirt on and I will give everything for the team."
