Van Gaal's 'at any cost' deal
Manchester United’s deal for Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller may appear dead in the water, but reports from Germany are looking to bring it back to life.
SportBild today say that Louis van Gaal remains intent on striking a deal for the World Cup winner, with it being claimed that the Dutchman has told chief transfer negotiator Ed Woodward to make it happen at all costs.

Now, with United having already spent a fair bit on the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay and Matteo Darmian, we’re unsure to what extent ‘at all costs’ actually covers Van Gaal’s plan, but we’ll keep you in the loop as and when we know.
Since Bayern’s chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge earlier relayed his theory that Muller would never leave the Allianz Arena we’re slightly sceptical to say the least. Having said that, German sources wouldn’t lie about such matters. Would they?
Spurs for Young
Meanwhile Tottenham Hotspur could stage a surprise bid for Ashley Young, having been told Yannick Bolasie will not be leaving Crystal Palace. It’s said Spurs want a new wide-man, and Young fits the bill as Bolasie’s cheaper alternative.
Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be considring a move for the United man as a result, and with Bolasie valued at £25million it’s not difficult to see why.
Young has looked good under Van Gaal after failing to impress under his two immediate predecessors, but will that be enough to keep him at Old Trafford?
Lastly, fans might be excited after welcoming Sergio Romero to the club, but it appears another goalkeeper could be on the way.
Reports infer that Ajax stopper Jasper Cillessen has told his teammates he’s leaving for United, though where that leaves Victor Valdes and David de Gea is anyone’s guess.
Another potential number one arriving would surely signal that the end is nigh regarding De Gea’s supposed move to Real Madrid, unless Van Gaal wants four high-profile ‘keepers to pick from.
