Platini shows support for Domenech

UEFA president Michel Platini has become the latest person to back France coach Raymond Domenech to remain in his role, insisting he is the best man to bring in a new generation of players.

Domenech is expected to be axed as France coach after four years in the post due to Les Bleus´ poor showing at Euro 2008, where they crashed out at the group stage without winning a single game when the French Football Federation announce a decision on his future on July 3.

Former France international Platini told French newspaper L´Equipe: "I´m not here to defend Domenech, but I´d like him to stay. What we need to do is renew the players and qualify for the 2010 World Cup. However, the best person to do that is Domenech because he knows best those players already in the squad and those set to come in."
