The New England Patriots began training camp today with all eyes firmly on the issue at quarterback following the NFL's decision not to adjust Tom Brady's four-game suspension.
With the Super Bowl MVP out for the first quarter of the 2015 season it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest the Patriots might be leaning on their run game for the early portion of the campaign.
With that in mind then, New England fans will be discouraged to hear that LeGarrette Blount, the man who finished the Super Bowl winning season as the team's main running back, is already in the bad books.

As reported by NFL.com, Blount reportedly failed the Patriots' conditioning test and was thus held out of the opening day of training camp.
While the former Steelers man is eligible to return as soon as he passes the test, the fact that he reported back for team activities out of shape will worry those who already have questions over the star's temperament and work ethic.

Bill Belichick isn't exactly known for his forgiving, lenient side - Blount's fellow running back, Jonas Gray, was effectively sent for sleeping through his alarm days after a 200-yard game in 2014 - and so Blount will have to work to regain the faith the Patriots showed in him last season.
With the ex-Pittsburgh man already having to sit out the opening week of the season due to a marijuana related incident during his Steelers days you would think he would be keen to show that he was still putting in the work this offseason.
His failure to adhere to the NFL's substance-abuse policy, coupled with his lacklustre summer attempts to stay fit, could then open up the door for one of his teammates to grab the starting role for the defending champions.
The aforementioned Gray, alongside new arrival Travis Cadet and perennial backups James White and Brandon Bolden, will be hoping to impress in Blount's absence - both at training camp and in the regular season.
