Liverpool are interested in pursuing a deal for former Manchester City star Alvaro Negredo, according to incredible reports emanating from Spain.
The rumours, kindly relayed by the Daily Telegraph, infer that Brendan Rodgers has sent a sortie of club representatives to Valencia in order to enquire after the services of Negredo, who only penned a permanent deal at the Mestalla earlier this summer.
The tall forward spent last season on loan at the Spanish outfit from City, after playing just one term in the Premier League.

However, it’s widely speculated that Valencia want to sell Negredo on for a profit having purchased him permanently, and Liverpool could be just the suitors they’re looking for.
The Telegraph say that Rodgers would be keen on forming a three-man strike-force consisting of Negredo, Christian Benteke and Danny Ings, with Benteke serving as the middle prong of the trident and the other two acting as support either side.
Of course that only works splendidly whilst Daniel Sturridge is confined to the injury table, and it also forces Rodgers to alter his formation further back on the field, as fielding three strikers realistically only leaves room for three midfielders.
On top of that Negredo left City under a cloud of rumours suggesting he simply didn’t feel settled in England, begging the question as to why he would return to the north of England only a year later.
Rodgers has already sold Rickie Lambert to West Brom and it’s likely Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini will follow out the departure doors, but we just can’t see a deal for Negredo happening this summer.
