Paris Saint-Germain star Javier Pastore has revealed that he has been trying to get international teammate Angel Di Maria to leave Manchester United in favour of the Parc des Princes.
As relayed by the Manchester Evening News, the PSG midfielder has confirmed he spoke to his compatriot in a bid to convince him to push through his switch to the Ligue 1 champions, and insisted Di Maria wants the move.
Pastore positive on a deal
The Old Trafford winger, who became United’s club-record signing last summer when he arrived from Real Madrid for almost £60million, is currently AWOL, and it looks likely that a deal will be done regarding his sale in the next few days.

That’s certainly a prospect Pastore is backing, as the 26-year-old told reporters that Di Maria can win matches on his own.
"He wants to come," Pastore said.

"I told him to join us. He is a very great player. Plus, he alone can win important matches.
"I told him to join us. He also asked me many questions about the club, the city and the way of life for his family."
All but assured now
Indeed it will be a surprise at this stage if Di Maria ends up staying with United past the summer transfer window. Louis van Gaal himself has admitted that he doesn’t know where the former Real man is, but it looks like he’s been carrying on his pre-season preparation without too much trouble.
On top of that United have found themselves repeatedly linked with a move for Barcelona star Pedro, a rumour that implies they are busy looking for Di Maria’s replacement.
If he does leave Old Trafford there will be many fans who rue the fact that Van Gaal was unable to get the best out of the winger.
Rekindling the flame
Prior to his switch from the Santiago Bernabeu Di Maria was a forward who routinely tore apart defences and instilled fear into opponents, but at United he’s looked a shadow of that player.
Whether or not he can rekindle his attacking flame at PSG remains to be seen, but he certainly has the backing of most of Laurent Blanc’s players, that’s for sure.
United fans, do you wish Di Maria would stay for another season? Is Van Gaal making a mistake by selling him? Let us know in the comments box below.
