Louis van Gaal's harsh training methods detailed

Certain Manchester United players were not happy with Louis van Gaal’s decision to bring them in for training straight after they’d landed from their US preseason tour this week.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the United squad was called in for training straight from landing at Manchester Airport after their International Champions Cup tournament in the United States.

The decision did not ‘go down well with some fatigued players’ according to MEN, although they should be used to van Gaal’s unorthodox training demands by now.

United’s players returned from the US on Thursday following an eight-hour overnight flight from Chicago to Manchester.

Flying business class following their friendly defeat to PSG in the Windy City, van Gaal clearly felt his players had plenty of time to rest up before heading back to Carrington.

Van Gaal’s attention to detail and training demands are notorious - they were long before he joined Manchester United - and the Dutchman is eager to hit the ground running this season after qualifying for the Champions League during the last campaign.

That was the main goal, but this time around the challenge is to win the Premier League - a sluggish start like last year would quickly put them out of the race so van Gaal is taking no chances.

To be fair, after the Thursday session MEN reports that Manchester United’s players did then get two days off before reporting back to Carrington on Sunday morning.

What do you think Manchester United supporters - are you a fan of van Gaal’s harsh training regimen?
